Warm welcome as an employee at Sundvolden Hotel, one of Norway's most traditional hotels. We are happy that you have chosen to work here with us! We hope that you will enjoy your time here and find the work interesting.
In this booklet, we will inform you about what we believe is important for you to know regarding the company and your work situation. If there is still anything you wonder about after reading this, do not hesitate to ask your department manager or immediate superior. This personnel handbook is part of your employment contract with the hotel.

Sundvolden Hotel aims to be one of the best conference and seminar hotels in the market when it comes to quality and personal service. We also focus greatly on health, wellness, tourism, and private events. To achieve this, we need employees who are results-oriented and enjoy putting the guest first.
Your well-being and interest are crucial for us to reach our goals. A good working environment can only be created if everyone commits to it. The hotel management, in turn, will facilitate creating a good team spirit and fostering collaboration to achieve common goals.

    A "Sundvolding" er en person som kommer fra Sundvollen, en liten bygd i Norge.

    A "Sundvolding" is a distinctly cheerful and accommodating host at Sundvolden Hotel. The Sundvoldings are characterized by good eye contact, infectious good humor, and a keen eye for detail. It is said of the Sundvoldings that they often know what guests need almost before the guests themselves realize it! The Sundvoldings have a taste for the good life and like to stay up-to-date with the times. They understand that guests appreciate finding the same comforts at Sundvolden as they have at home. There are rumors about the care the Sundvoldings show towards guests and their ability to make guests feel at home. Sundvoldings are solution-oriented and excellent team players because they know that they achieve the most when working together. They are creative and curious, constantly coming up with better solutions for both colleagues and guests. This is why guests often wish to return to Sundvolden Hotel for the Sundvoldings' excellent care and thoughtfulness.

        1. You speak - who is listening?

        Every security vulnerability in your business is the perfect entry point for cybercriminals, and even though you may not have thought it was possible, mobile phones pose a potential risk factor. Hackers are increasingly trying to eavesdrop on corporate conversations with an economic motive. Unfortunately, in many cases, it is difficult for companies to know they are being monitored until it is too late.

        2. Are your employees aware of their own security responsibilities?

        Employees are considered to be the company's best firewall. Employees play a crucial role in maintaining the company's IT security. After all, it is the employees that hackers target in order to gain access to valuable information or systems. Update your computer and shut it down every night - change your password when prompted.

        3. Fake emails

        Fake emails and phishing emails aim to obtain private or valuable information from you in the form of online banking details, login information, and more. When you receive an unsolicited email from someone you don't know, you should always be extra cautious. Proceed carefully so that critical business data as well as sensitive personal information does not end up in the wrong hands.

        4. Do you not use the toilet brush everywhere?

        It is said that a strong password should contain characters, numbers, and letters. However, having a strong password doesn't help much if the same password is used everywhere. To secure yourself, it is recommended to create strong passwords and use a password management program when needed. You don't use the same toothbrush everywhere, do you? The same should apply to your passwords.

        5. Does it seem too good to be true?

        There is a proliferation of fake messages and emails with the purpose of tricking confidential information out of you and your employees. Hackers' hidden agenda is often disguised in competitions, suspicious emails, and deceptive pop-up ads, which in many cases are too good to be true. So, be extra vigilant when receiving suspicious inquiries.

        6. Be smarter than your things

        To meet today's security challenges, where hackers are becoming more creative, it is important that you stay ahead of cybercriminals. In other words, you need to think ahead when it comes to IT security in your business so that you are prepared for potential hacker attacks. Report any suspicious activity if you experience it.

        7. Use your head

        Often, we can go a long way with common sense. With increased awareness that the threat landscape has changed significantly in recent years, and that behind every security vulnerability lies a potential threat, much can be prevented. Be extra vigilant of suspicious emails from people you do not know, use multi-factor authentication, assess the company's actual resilience, and always have a contingency plan ready.

        8. Who are you on social media?

        Hacking social media accounts is way too easy, and you don't need to be a full-time hacker to gain access. More and more people tend to underestimate the threats on social media, as we naturally let our guard down when using these platforms. However, there is still a good reason to prioritize security - even here.

        9. Be a star

        Stop - Are you expecting this email? Check that the sender is who they claim to be Think - Read and evaluate the email carefully Ask - Ask a friend or colleague Report - Report to your IT department if you still suspect fraud

        Make sure that unauthorized individuals do not gain access to your user accounts.

        One of the most important ways you can protect your accounts is by safeguarding your passwords. First and foremost, you should never share your passwords with others, especially not through platforms that are not 100% secure. However, a strong password is not always enough. Therefore, we strongly recommend adding multi-factor authentication (MFA).

        Sundvolden Hotel assumes that employees report in writing about critical conditions, and it is important that the employee or whistleblower ensures that the report is received as a disclosure and not as a personnel matter.
