Morten Abel Knutsen (born 1962) is a Norwegian musician. He is known as a solo artist and as the lead singer of the Stavanger band The September When. He had his breakthrough with the band Mods in the early 1980s. After the success with Mods, he and two other Mods members formed The September When, which eventually broke up and later reunited in 2008. In the mid-1990s, he was the frontman of Peltz before truly embarking on a solo career in 1997. He has won four Spellemann awards as a solo artist, including Artist of the Year for 2001 and the honorary award in 2014. In addition, he has been nominated for four Spellemann awards and won a Spellemann together with The September When. He was inducted into the Rockheim Hall of Fame in 2018 after five nominations.
Stråmenn has extensive experience as a band, performing with both Norwegian and international artists, and greatly enjoys such assignments. Some of these artists include Madcon, Marit Larsen, Thomas og Harald, Jahn Teigen, Helene Bøksle, Spandau Ballet, Hanne Boel, Espen Lind, Bye & Rønning, Trang Fødsel, Kurt Nilsen, Aslak Haugen, Dag Ingebrigtsen, and Bjarne Brøndbo, to name a few. In addition, all members of Stråmenn’s musicians have experience and ongoing engagements with a large part of the Norwegian music scene.
