Information for residents/guests

Johan Blyberg was the first hotel owner, and he was succeeded by his son, Ola. However, Ola Blyberg sold the property before his death, and there were multiple ownership changes involved, including Ruth Helgestad, and later director Larsen from Norsk Spisevognselskap. Larsen, among other things, set up dining facilities in Gildehuset and arranged the popular outdoor area with old millstones as tables.

Arne B. Laeskogen, the first generation Laeskogen, became a partner in 1963 and bought the hotel two years later. At that time, the hotel had 21 beds, a restaurant, and a cafeteria. Arne Laeskogen, who grew up in Hønefoss, was 29 years old at the time. He had a solid hotel education, with six years at KNA Hotel in Oslo - including a year of further education in Paris. He always had a goal and desire to have his own hotel, but whether Sundvolden was what he had dreamed of is debatable. The hotel was run down and operated in an old-fashioned way. But Laeskogen appreciated the environment. "It was in the walls, so I felt really at home," he said in an interview early in his career at Sundvolden.
In 1966, Arne Laeskogen married Bjørg Moe, who was educated in dietetics and nutrition, from Røyse, and they complemented each other as a team.

Today, the hotel has 525 beds, distributed across 273 rooms, and is run by Tord and Cecilie Laeskogen, the second generation.

We are proud to say that we do not use chemicals in our cleaning. We use ozonated water for daily cleaning. Our cleaning staff takes care to ensure that you as a guest arrive at a clean and well-maintained room.

We are Swan-certified and encourage all our guests to use their towels throughout their stay. We do not clean the room during your stay unless specifically requested. If you need new towels or room cleaning, please hang the sign on the door.

We encourage you to think about the environment when staying with us - turn off lights, use towels throughout your stay, and consider your footprint!

Your room has a waste bin, and we sort it for you. Feel free to place recyclables like bottles and cans on the desk. General waste should be disposed of in the trash can in the room. We sort food waste, cardboard, plastic, general waste, and recyclables for you.

Your room is equipped with a trash can. We do the sorting for you. Please put recyclables on the desk, and the remaining waste in the trash can. We have a large recycling center behind the hotel for efficient and proper sorting.

We cook with a lot of love for the ingredients, great patience, and always from scratch. Many of the ingredients are sourced from the fjord and local farmers.

Regular opening hours: 
Breakfast is served on weekdays from 07:00 - 09:30, Saturdays from 07:00 - 10:00, and Sundays from 08:00 - 11:00. Early breakfast from 06:30 weekdays and Saturdays. 
Værtshuset is open on all weekdays and Saturdays from 12:00 - 22:00, Sundays from 12:00 - 20:00.

We actively work on reducing food waste. We encourage you as a guest to finish your meal, if you eat at the buffet - eat as much as you like, but feel free to go for seconds.

Wireless internet is free for all our guests - the password is "sundvolden" and the network is called sundvolden guest.

The fitness center is open from 06:00 - 22:00 every day - located in the basement below the reception.
Outdoors in the park under tall trees, you will find our outdoor jacuzzi - open every day all year round.
If it's cold outside, please inform the reception so we can remove the cover for you.

Check-out on weekdays is before 10:00 AM for conferenceguests, on Saturdays before 11:00 AM, and on Sundays before 12:00 PM.
